So i don't know about you but I went and voted today. I completed my civic duty, and participated in what makes our democracy so grand. Many people have shed their blood, sweat, and tears so that I might have the right and opportunity to have my say in how our community and country functions. Voting today is no longer a privilege it is a responsibility.

Since I took 15 minutes out of my afternoon to color in some bubbles and sign my name I now have the right to have a say about my government. Since I was active in the process I can criticize and complain, I can be excited and commend the leaders of our government. Those of you who couldn't take the time vote have lost that right. You didn't care enough to make a decision, so your opinion about our politics does not count. You didn't complete your civic duty, the only thing American about you is where you were born.

I'm very proud of my Sister. She voted today for the first time now that she is 18. I know most of you don't know my sister, but put it this way. When she leaves her bedroom its almost news worthy for the front page of the Enquirer. She even took the time to go and do her civic duty. She read about the issues and voted how she felt.

So I say to those of you who did your civic duty today, wear your "I voted today" stickers proudly and realize you have made a difference. To those of you who don't care enough to figure out whats going on in your community, when you don't like whats going on keep your mouth shut and save it for the next election, and use your vote as your voice.
